About SENsAble Consulting

At SENsAble Consulting, we believe every child deserves an education that is suitable, accessible, and fulfilling. We support children, families, practitioners, and organisations to build more inclusive, compassionate, and effective educational experiences.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is grounded in research, lived experience, and a belief that meaningful collaboration creates better outcomes for children and young people.

Parents & Caregivers Matter

Drawing on Vygotsky’s work and the SEND Code of Practice, we believe parents and caregivers are experts on their children. Their perspectives should not only be heard, but respected, valued, and meaningfully included in decisions.

Practitioners Need Support Too

We believe practitioners deserve support, clarity, and connection. Their expertise should be recognised, trusted, and acted upon without unnecessary bureaucratic barriers.

Proactive Inclusion

Schools should be prepared for the diversity of children who walk through their doors. Inclusion should not begin only when a child starts struggling. It should be built into culture, training, environments, and everyday practice.

Why the Mushroom?

Real change does not start with what we can see. It starts underneath the surface.
Mushrooms and mycelium networks represent the kind of change we want to create. Mycelium connects, nourishes, and supports entire ecosystems quietly and intelligently. It bridges gaps, shares resources, and strengthens what already exists.
What This Means at SENsAble
At SENsAble Consulting, this reflects how we support families, practitioners, and educational settings:
  • Connecting families and practitioners
  • Sharing knowledge and resources
  • Strengthening communication
  • Supporting growth
  • Building sustainable systems beneath the surface

The Symbolism
The mushroom cap represents visible outcomes and educational experiences.

The stem represents the structures supporting those outcomes, including staff training, organisational culture, and practitioner beliefs.

The mycelium represents the unseen systems that make everything possible, including communication, inclusive policies, equitable resource allocation, staffing structures, and relationships.

"We work in the mycelium, quietly strengthening systems from underneath so children can grow above it."

WHEN EDUCATION ISN’T WORKING

Every Child’s Journey Is Different

There are many reasons a child may not feel fulfilled by their education, and every situation is unique.

At SENsAble Consulting, our role is to listen, understand, and respond with flexibility, compassion, and humanity.

Like a mycelium network, we aim to be interconnected, supportive, and resource-sharing, creating meaningful change wherever support is needed most.

What Makes Us Different

Parents Often Face:

  • Fragmented services
  • Delays and bureaucracy
  • Feeling blamed or dismissed
  • Becoming the default coordinator of their child’s care
  • Difficult and exhausting systems

Practitioners Often Face:

  • Overwhelming workloads
  • Rapid policy changes
  • Limited time for meaningful communication
  • Feeling under-prepared or unsupported

We Are Different Because We:

  • Bridge the gap between families and professionals
  • Coordinate communication across teams
  • Listen to lived experience
  • Offer flexible, bespoke support
  • Share knowledge openly
  • Advocate for meaningful systemic change
  • Centre dignity, respect, and honesty in every interaction
